Whales Push Bitcoin Above $74K as Long-Term Holders Accumulate

Bitcoin rose to $74,476.23 after whale wallets added about 27,562 BTC; long-term holders and institutional buyers also increased holdings.

During recent trading, Bitcoin climbed to $74,476.23 as large wallets added roughly 27,562 BTC and buyers absorbed selling around the $74,000 level.

On-chain data show whale cohorts holding between 1,000 and 10,000 BTC now control about 21.3% of the circulating supply. Those cohorts added roughly 27,562 BTC since Sunday, an accumulation valued at about $2 billion at current prices. Long-term holder balances have risen since December 2025, with on-chain indicators showing about 1 million BTC moved into older wallets over that period. Major centralized exchanges also increased short-term BTC balances.

Spot order books displayed an 81-BTC sell wall at $75,000. Buyers absorbed selling pressure at $74,000 to clear previous resistance. Market participants are watching whether sell walls at $75,000 and $76,000 will be absorbed.

Trading shifted toward spot and over-the-counter venues during the accumulation phase. Futures open interest remained relatively low as more transactions occurred on spot and OTC desks while large holders secured coins.

Wallet analysis from late March shows many large holders held protective short exposure and downside hedges while adding BTC to their balances. During the recent accumulation, whales increased holdings without large moves in futures markets.

Sentiment indicators remained cautious. The BTC fear and greed index stood at 21, a level categorized as extreme fear. Retail buying was sporadic and largely limited to dip purchases, while accumulation by whales and older wallets continued.

On-chain flow metrics recorded inflows from digital credit strategies and other institutional channels. Allocation to crypto remains small compared with traditional asset classes, but institutional channels contributed to recent inflows.

Market watchers will monitor whether current buying pressure can absorb existing sell walls and sustain a move above $76,000, and whether continued inflows from long-term holders and institutions coincide with further price gains.
