Mistral AI to open Nvidia-powered Bruyeres site in Q2 2026

Mistral AI Raises $830M Debt for Nvidia-Powered Paris Data Center

Mistral AI raised $830 million in debt to build an Nvidia-powered data center in Bruyeres-le-Chatel near Paris, aiming to begin operations in Q2 2026.

Mistral AI has raised $830 million in debt to build an Nvidia-powered data center in Bruyeres-le-Chatel, a town near Paris. The company plans for the facility to start operations in the second quarter of 2026.

The financing will cover construction of the site and deployment of Nvidia chips for model training and inference. Mistral said the project forms part of a wider effort to expand compute capacity across Europe.

The company has set a target to deploy about 200 megawatts of compute capacity across Europe by 2027. It also plans to invest roughly $1.4 billion in Sweden to build additional data centers and related infrastructure.

The $830 million was raised as debt rather than equity. Mistral’s balance sheet already reflects more than €2.8 billion (about $3.1 billion) raised to date from investors such as General Catalyst, ASML, a16z, Lightspeed and DST Global.

Mistral has not released further technical details for the Bruyeres-le-Chatel facility and provided no immediate comment on the specific financing terms. The new site will join the company’s planned and existing infrastructure to offer Europe-based compute for developers, governments and research institutions.

Arthur Mensch, Mistral’s chief executive, wrote in a company statement that scaling infrastructure in Europe is important to empower customers, support AI innovation and maintain autonomy. He added that demand from governments, enterprises and research institutions for locally hosted AI environments, rather than reliance on external cloud services, is driving the investment.
