BC.Game rebuild and mentality doubts cloud s1mple’s 2026 bid

FalleN, Torzsi & Soulfly Doubt s1mple's 2026 Top-20 Bid

On March 10, FalleN, torzsi and Soulfly told contacts on Telegram they do not expect s1mple to finish in the Top 20 in 2026, citing BC.Game’s limited tier‑1 schedule and doubts over his mindset.

On March 10, three professional Counter-Strike 2 players — Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo, torzsi and Caner ‘Soulfly’ Kesici — told contacts on Telegram they do not expect Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev to finish inside the Top 20 at year-end 2026. They pointed to BC.Game’s limited tier‑1 schedule and concerns about s1mple’s current mentality.

FalleN and torzsi highlighted BC.Game’s roster rebuild around a Portuguese core and the team’s likely reduced presence at top-level events. FalleN expressed the view that the squad is still assembling and may have difficulty reaching the late stages of major tournaments. Torzsi argued BC.Game probably will not play enough tier‑1 events for s1mple to accumulate the results and exposure the Top 20 jury typically rewards.

Soulfly raised a separate concern about s1mple’s competitive drive, noting what he sees as a loss of passion and struggles with mentality. He added that constant playoff appearances at major tournaments are generally required to make the year-end list.

The Top 20 jury weighs performance at elite events, including Majors and landmark LANs such as Cologne and Krakow. s1mple’s only elite-event appearance this cycle was IEM Krakow, where he recorded an average rating of 1.10. The 2025 example of HeavyGod showed that even an MVP at a large LAN may not secure a Top 20 place without broader impact across elite events.

BC.Game is scheduled to compete at Roman Imperium Cup VI, an event connected to invites for the Cologne Major. Results at that event and at other elite tournaments will affect s1mple’s prospects for the year-end list. FalleN acknowledged s1mple’s abilities while leaving room for improvement; torzsi and Soulfly maintained they see insufficient signs that he will return to the level required for a Top 20 finish.

FalleN noted: ‘I think it’s hard. Right now, they are in a phase where they’re trying to build a new team with the Portuguese core. I have an impression that it would be difficult for him to go deep enough [in tournaments] to be in that position. But he has the abilities, so let’s keep watching.’

Soulfly commented: ‘I don’t think he will come back stronger. I don’t think he has that passion anymore. He’s struggling with the mentality, so I don’t think he’s gonna make it.’
