Organizers reported a 44% increase in peak concurrent viewership compared with the 2025 edition, making the event Free Fire’s most-watched tournament since 2022.
Most of the additional viewers came from South and Southeast Asia. Hindi-, Vietnamese- and Indonesian-language streams each exceeded 200,000 concurrent viewers. Portuguese- and Spanish-language audiences also contributed to the total, and three Brazilian organizations joined LYON among the event’s top ten teams by viewership.
The number of unique channels broadcasting the Free Fire tournament rose from 149 in 2025 to 375 in 2026. Growth in Hindi-speaking streams was led by creators such as Raj “Snax Gaming” Varma and Shivam “Nonstop Gaming” Rathi. YouTube and TikTok showed year-on-year gains in watch time and peak concurrent figures during the tournament.
Tournament format changes expanded the field from 18 to 24 teams. The larger field coincided with the event surpassing 10 million Hours Watched. On the list of Free Fire’s most-watched competitions, the Esports World Cup 2026 ranked sixth overall.
LYON set a new Esports World Cup match record during the Group Stage with 33 eliminations and a Booyah, breaking the previous mark of 28 eliminations and a Booyah. The club finished the event with 155 points and sealed the title after reaching Champion Rush Point following Game 6. LYON earned $300,000, secured direct qualification for the Free Fire World Series – Global Finals 2026 and received 1,000 points toward the Club Championship standings. The organization’s earlier appearance at a past Esports World Cup in Paris ended near the bottom in League of Legends.
