Chumba, Stake.us and multiple sweepstakes sites leave Indiana

Chumba Casino, Stake.us and several sweepstakes operators exited Indiana after a law banning dual-currency online sweepstakes took effect July 1.

A number of major sweepstakes gaming operators left Indiana on July 1 after a new state law took effect that bars online games using separate currencies for purchases and sweepstakes play.

VGW withdrew all Indiana-facing brands, including LuckyLand Slots, LuckyLand Casino, Global Poker and United Slots. Sweepstakes Ltd. removed Stake.us. B-Two Operations ended sweepstakes play for McLuck, Hello Millions, Jackpota, Mega Bonanza, PlayFame and SpinBlitz. MW Services Ltd. stopped operations for WOW Vegas, Rolla and MetaWin as of July 1.

Other operators that ceased sweepstakes play in Indiana include Fliff Inc. (Fliff and Sidepot), Golden Hearts Inc., Rolling Riches, Smiles Casino, Thrillz and Dara Casino. Several platforms had already wound down activity in May and June, including Blazesoft (Fortune Wins, Zula, Sportzino and others), Yellow Social (Pulsz and Pulsz Bingo), ARB Interactive (Modo), High 5 Entertainment (High 5 Casino) and Woopla Inc. (Funzpoints).

Some companies converted products rather than fully withdraw. Utech Solutions moved multiple brands to entertainment-only Gold Coin play, converting Scarlet Sands, MrGoodwin, VegasWay, SweepShark, JackpotRabbit, Playtana, Sweepico, FireSevens and DexyPlay. A1 Development removed sweepstakes promotional play from Funrize, Fortune Wheelz, FunzCity, NoLimitCoins, StormRush and TaoFortune while retaining Tournament Point (Gold Coin) gameplay.

Indiana’s law outlaws online sweepstakes operations that rely on a dual-currency setup. Under that model users can buy or earn one virtual currency and use a separate sweepstakes currency to enter games for prizes. The statute prohibits platforms that use separate currencies for purchases and sweepstakes play.

Players reported changes to game availability ahead of the deadline, with some Hacksaw Gaming titles becoming inaccessible before July 1. Despite the wave of withdrawals, dozens of sweepstakes sites still appeared to accept Indiana players as of July 2 without visible geoblocks or updated restricted-state notices.

Regulatory action is also scheduled in other states. Maine’s ban on dual-currency sweepstakes games takes effect July 15, and several operators including Blazesoft, ARB, Woopla and Yellow Social withdrew ahead of that date. Louisiana’s ban becomes effective Aug. 1, and many operators left that market earlier this year following increased enforcement.

Operators affected by the Indiana law have either exited the state, converted brands to non-sweepstakes Gold Coin play, or begun redesigning products to comply with the new restrictions.
