BitGo adds institutional stablecoin minting and redemption

BitGo is offering institutions the ability to mint and redeem stablecoins on its platform while keeping tokens in BitGo custody.
BitGo has launched an institutional service that lets qualified institutions mint stablecoins on-chain and redeem them back to fiat or other off-chain settlement while keeping the tokens under BitGo custody.
The service targets funds, exchanges, trading firms and other institutional users that need predictable access to on-chain dollar liquidity for trading, settlement and treasury operations. Institutions can create tokens when they require on-chain cash and return tokens for off-chain settlement through the same platform.
BitGo combines its custody infrastructure with direct interfaces to stablecoin issuers, allowing clients to manage the full lifecycle of minted tokens within a single environment. The platform handles the technical steps to mint tokens on supported blockchains and coordinates redemptions that require off-chain issuer processes, while preserving custody controls and key management for institutional wallets, BitGo said.
Compliance checks and identity verification are included to ensure counterparties meet issuer and regulatory requirements, the company added. The service is designed to integrate with existing custodial and back-office systems so institutions can reconcile minting and redemption activity alongside other asset operations.
Market participants have sought ways to hold and move dollar-denominated token assets without manual processes or multiple intermediaries. By offering minting and redemption alongside custody, BitGo bundles issuance and custody workflows intended to reduce operational steps for clients accessing stablecoin liquidity for trading, margining and cross-border settlement.
BitGo is known for custody and security services for institutional crypto clients, including multi-signature wallets and cold storage. The firm said the new service will be available to eligible clients and will operate within the compliance and issuer requirements that govern stablecoin creation and redemption.
