Team Spirit, led by Ilya “m0nesy” Osipov, swept Team Falcons 3-0 to win PGL Astana 2026. The event peaked at 1.16 million concurrent viewers and set local records.
Team Spirit completed a 3-0 sweep of Team Falcons to win PGL Astana 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Ilya “m0nesy” Osipov was named tournament MVP. The event reached a peak concurrent audience of 1.16 million and set new viewership records for Kazakhstan and for PGL events outside of Majors.
The tournament ran for a week and generated 23.5 million Hours Watched, a 7% rise from the previous year. Average Viewership for broadcasts was 295,700, up 13.5% from the prior edition. Organizers reported a 31% increase in unique broadcast channels compared with the previous year, expanding language coverage across key markets.
In the playoffs, Team Spirit advanced to the final after series wins over G2 Esports and MOUZ. Team Falcons reached the final by defeating FURIA and magic in the single-elimination bracket. The grand final featured a widely watched matchup between Ilya “m0nesy” Osipov and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets; Spirit won every map of the series.
Team Falcons’ run included a multi-overtime series against FURIA that drew heavy viewership. The event marked the official debut of veteran Finn “karrigan” Andersen as Team Falcons’ in-game leader; he guided the team to the final but recorded a 0.73 individual rating, the lowest two-year stretch in his recent statistics.
Group-stage play produced an underdog result as South America’s 9z Team swept its first three matches and secured an early playoff berth. By contrast, The MongolZ and PARIVISION, both ranked inside the global top 10 before the event, failed to advance from group play.
Language-specific broadcasts showed large swings in audience size. The Russian-language feed peaked at 548,200 concurrent viewers, one of the highest Russian-language peaks in Counter-Strike history. Portuguese-language streams reached a peak of about 215,000 driven by interest in Brazilian team FURIA, but Portuguese peak viewership fell to roughly 14,000 after FURIA’s playoff exit and rose to around 40,000 for the grand final. Two of FURIA’s matches finished among the tournament’s top three most-watched games.
The grand final was the single most-watched match of the event. Overall viewership placed PGL Astana 2026 as the second most-viewed Counter-Strike event of 2026 to date, behind IEM Kraków 2026. Among PGL-hosted events, only their Majors in Stockholm, Antwerp and Copenhagen have recorded higher viewership.
The Counter-Strike calendar continues with the CS Asia Championships 2026 scheduled for May 20–24 in Shanghai.
