Strategy buys $1B more Bitcoin, holds 780,897 BTC

The firm bought 13,927 BTC for about $1 billion at roughly $71,902 apiece, raising its holdings to 780,897 BTC, about 3.8% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply.

Strategy acquired 13,927 bitcoins for approximately $1 billion on April 13, 2026, at an average price near $71,902 per coin. The purchase increased the company’s total holdings to 780,897 BTC, roughly 3.8% of the circulating Bitcoin supply.

The company reports a cumulative Bitcoin investment of about $59.02 billion with a blended average price of $75,577 per bitcoin. Strategy listed a BTC Yield of 5.6% year to date for 2026 on its investor dashboard and published its total holdings and cost basis there.

Most purchases are financed through the firm’s Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock, ticker STRC. The preferred shares yield about 11.5% annually, trade near their $100 par value and pay monthly cash dividends. Strategy states proceeds from preferred stock sales are used directly to acquire additional bitcoin.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted the purchase details on X and noted a company metric for dividend coverage. He wrote, “Our BTC Breakeven ARR is approximately 2.05%. If Bitcoin grows faster than that over time, we can cover our dividends indefinitely without issuing new MSTR shares.” The company dashboard shows about 48.7 years of dividend coverage at current reserve levels.

The latest buy follows a report of roughly $14.5 billion in unrealized losses on the firm’s digital asset portfolio for the first quarter of 2026. Strategy said a near 20% decline in Bitcoin’s market price during the period put the asset below the company’s average cost basis, but the firm continued its accumulation program.

Since beginning its concentrated accumulation in August 2020, Strategy has made more than 105 purchases. In March 2026 the company bought 46,233 BTC while miners produced about 16,200 BTC that month. Strategy reported over $57 billion in remaining market offering capacity across its share classes.

Some analysts estimate that at a monthly investment rate near $2.3 billion and current prices, Strategy could reach one million bitcoins as early as November 2026 if the pace and access to capital persist. The company’s holdings exceed those of the next largest public corporate holder, which holds about 43,514 BTC. Strategy’s stock currently trades at roughly 1.10 times its net asset value.
