Sportradar Rejects Claims It Serves Unlicensed Bettors
Sportradar denied claims this week that it supplied services to unlicensed gambling firms, saying it works only with licensed partners and monitors compliance.
Sportradar issued a formal rebuttal this week, denying claims that it supplied data or integrity services to unlicensed gambling operators. The company said it conducts business only with licensed partners.
In the statement, Sportradar described global screening and compliance processes used during customer onboarding and partner management. It requires contractual guarantees, performs identity and license checks, and monitors activity to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. The firm wrote it can suspend or terminate relationships if partners fail to meet legal obligations.
Headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Sportradar supplies live sports data, odds feeds and integrity-monitoring services to sports bodies, media companies and licensed bookmakers.
The rebuttal followed unspecified claims that prompted queries from stakeholders and regulators. Sportradar did not identify the parties involved or provide details about the allegations.
“We do not and will not knowingly provide services to illegal or unlicensed betting operators,” the company wrote. “We require our partners to hold the appropriate licenses for the markets in which they operate and we carry out ongoing checks to ensure compliance. Where concerns are raised, we investigate and take action in line with our policies.”
Sportradar offered to cooperate with sports federations, competition authorities and gambling regulators and to assist any official inquiries into the allegations. It encouraged anyone with documentary evidence to contact the company or the relevant authorities for review.
Regulators in several jurisdictions are increasing oversight of online gambling and supply chains. Data and technology vendors typically use contractual protections, automated screening tools and manual due diligence to reduce the risk of supporting unlicensed operators. Firms that fail to apply such safeguards can face regulatory penalties or reputational damage.
