Sentinels Missing as VCT Americas Posts Lowest Viewership
VCT Americas Stage 1 saw overall watch time fall 21.2% year over year and peak concurrent viewers drop 19.3%. The most-watched Group Stage match did not feature Sentinels for the first time.
VCT 2026: Americas Stage 1 recorded the lowest Group Stage viewership in the circuit’s history. Organizers reported a 21.2% decline in total watch time compared with the 2025 Group Stage and a 19.3% drop in peak concurrent viewers.
The only platform metric to rise was YouTube Live peak viewers, which increased 4.6% from 2025. Tournament organizers attributed the YouTube gain in part to stronger numbers from several multistream co-streamers.
The most-watched Group Stage match was Cloud9 versus MIBR, a widely anticipated matchup. MIBR, built around duelist Erick ‘aspas’ Santos, suffered its first loss of the season to Cloud9, losing two maps in 14-12 overtime.
Other high-viewership matches included Cloud9 versus LOUD and the Brazilian derby between LOUD and MIBR. Brazilian teams accounted for a large share of regional interest, though overall Brazilian viewership softened as teams such as LOUD failed to reach recent levels of international contention.
Portuguese-language streamer Heitor ‘Tck10’ Tomazela and English-language streamer Pujan ‘FNS’ Mehta reported higher YouTube Live audiences compared with last year, helping lift the platform’s figures amid declines elsewhere.
Playoff seeding was decided after the Group Stage. MIBR and KRÜ Esports advanced as the top seeds from their groups and entered the upper bracket semifinals. Upper bracket play began May 14 with FURIA facing Leviatán and G2 Esports meeting 100 Thieves. The losers of those matches move to the lower bracket to play the final two playoff qualifiers, NRG and LOUD.
Sentinels and Cloud9 did not qualify for the Americas playoffs. Both organizations ranked among the season’s most-watched teams by average concurrent viewers but failed to make the playoff field.
Regional totals show the Pacific region now leading global Valorant viewership while Americas totals declined. Teams and organizers will head into the playoff phase with attention on whether later matches and advancing Brazilian sides will affect audience numbers for the remainder of VCT 2026.
