RRQ Tora debut lifts MPL Malaysia Week 1 peak viewers 133%

RRQ Tora’s first match in MPL Malaysia Season 17 raised peak online viewership 133% to 399,537 during its Day 1 game against Team Rey.

The opening week of MPL Malaysia Season 17 featured seven matches across three match days. RRQ Tora’s Day 1 match against Team Rey recorded a peak online audience of 399,537 viewers, a 133% increase compared with the league’s opening week in Season 16.

RRQ Tora is the Malaysian roster of the Indonesian organization RRQ. The team went 2-0 in Week 1. Selangor Red Giants also finished the week 2-0 after winning a close second series.

Week-to-week metrics show total watch time rose 127.7% and average viewership increased 77.95% from Season 16’s opening week. Total broadcast airtime increased by about three hours. A language-specific feed reached a peak of 68,752 viewers.

Platform trends were led by short-form mobile viewing. TikTok accounted for more than 58% of the competition’s cumulative watch time in Week 1.

Other teams with notable early viewership included Team Rey and Team Flash. Team Rey’s Day 1 match with RRQ Tora produced the week’s peak. Team Flash, which moved into the Malaysian league from a neighboring circuit, ranked among the top sides by average viewers.

Week 2 is scheduled for April 10 to 12, with Selangor Red Giants facing Bigetron MY by VIT and Team Flash listed as headline fixtures. The league is operating under a Partnership Programme and is preparing to adopt a franchising model in 2026.
