RRQ Tora debut lifts MPL Malaysia Week 1 peak to 399,537 viewers

RRQ Tora’s debut in MPL Malaysia Season 17 Week 1 drew a peak audience of 399,537 viewers, a 133% increase versus the opening week of Season 16.

The first week of MPL Malaysia Season 17 featured seven matches across three days and reached a peak of 399,537 viewers on Day 1 during RRQ Tora’s match against Team Rey. The peak was 133% higher than the opening week of Season 16.

Selangor Red Giants and RRQ Tora each recorded two wins in Week 1. Selangor Red Giants entered the season as the defending champion. RRQ Tora is the Malaysian entry from the Indonesian organization RRQ; both of Tora’s matches ranked among the week’s most-viewed.

Total watch time for Week 1 rose 127.7% and average viewership increased 77.95% compared with the first week of Season 16. Broadcasters scheduled about three more hours of airtime than the previous opening week.

An Indonesian-language broadcast peaked at 68,752 viewers, the highest language-specific peak recorded in the league. TikTok accounted for more than 58% of the competition’s cumulative watch time during Week 1.

Team Rey and Team Flash were among the fixtures with strong average viewership; Team Flash joined the Malaysian circuit after competing in MPL Singapore. Week 2 runs April 10 to 12, with Selangor Red Giants scheduled to play Bigetron MY by VIT and Team Flash.
