Resorts World NYC Tables Lag as Slots Surge in Opening Week

For April 28–May 3 Maybank estimated table GGR at about $4.9M (~$3,400 per table per day), below a $7,500 forecast; slot GGR rose to about $23.5M, up 20.5% year‑over‑year.

Maybank Investment Bank estimated that Resorts World New York City generated about $4.9 million in gross gaming revenue from live table games during its first six days of play, April 28–May 3, at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. The figure translates to roughly $3,400 per table per day.

The property opened live table games on April 28 after receiving one of New York’s three approved downstate casino licenses. Resorts World began the table rollout with 242 live tables offering blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette.

Maybank had projected $7,500 per table per day. The bank identified a lower-than-expected hold as a primary reason for the shortfall, reporting a 14% win rate for the opening period versus the 20% win rate used in its model. Adjusting to a 20% hold would raise estimated table GGR to about $6.9 million, or roughly $4,759 per table per day.

Slot-machine revenue outperformed the tables. Maybank estimated slot GGR for the same week at about $23.5 million, up roughly 20.5% from an estimated $19.5 million in the comparable week last year. The bank noted that the rollout appeared to draw additional players to the existing slot floor, which already houses more than 2,500 machines.

Combined, Maybank estimated total GGR at Resorts World NYC increased 46.1% year‑over‑year for the period. The bank also estimated that Resorts World Catskills generated about $3.3 million in GGR during the same week, down about 11% from the prior year.

Maybank maintained a BUY rating on Genting Malaysia and said the table business should grow as the operator accesses its customer database. The bank estimated that if table performance reaches $7,500 per table per day, the tables could add roughly $32 million to Genting Malaysia’s annual core net profit, and it has not yet included any contribution from the new tables in its earnings model.

Resorts World’s expansion is part of a $5.5 billion redevelopment plan. The operator plans to increase live tables to 250 in July 2026, 400 in January 2027 and 800 by 2029, and to expand to as many as 6,000 slot machines, an 800-table capacity, a 2,000-room hotel, convention space and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue by 2030. Two other approved downstate casino projects are not expected to open before 2030.
