PGL Bucharest 2026 Group Stage Viewership Drops 32%
Group-stage hours watched fell 32% to just over 6 million, with average concurrent viewership around 126,900 and a 317,000 peak as key teams missed the event.
The PGL Bucharest 2026 group stage drew just over 6 million hours watched, an average concurrent audience of about 126,900 and a peak of 317,000 viewers. Organizers reported a 32% decline in both hours watched and average viewership compared with the previous year.
Organizers attributed the decrease in part to changes in the lineup: Team Falcons, FURIA and G2 Esports did not compete, and FaZe Clan missed the opening rounds. Portuguese-language broadcasts also fell, with Alexandre Borba, known as Gaules, drawing nearly 50% fewer viewers than in 2025.
The group stage concluded April 8 in Bucharest. Playoffs began April 9, with the Grand Final and third-place match scheduled for April 11. Astralis and FUT Esports finished the group stage with perfect records to secure the top playoff seeds. The MongolZ and PARIVISION also advanced from the groups.
BC.Game Esports, featuring Oleksandr Kostyliev (s1mple), drew large audiences for individual matches but did not qualify for the knockout bracket. FaZe Clan missed its first two matches because of a scheduling conflict with another event, arrived for its final elimination match against Inner Circle Esports and lost, eliminating the team from contention for a spot at IEM Cologne Major 2026.
The most-watched group-stage match was The MongolZ versus BC.Game, which peaked at 279,800 concurrent viewers. Last year’s top group-stage peak was 338,000 viewers for The MongolZ versus Team Falcons. The second-highest draw was the elimination match between PARIVISION and Wildcard; the opening map Mirage went to multiple overtimes and finished 28–26 before PARIVISION closed the series 2–0.
Playoff matchups after the group stage included 3DMAX versus MIBR, Astralis versus EYEBALLERS, B8 Esports versus FUT Esports, and The MongolZ versus PARIVISION. Updated results and match-by-match metrics are available on the tournament’s official coverage page.
