PGL Astana Outdraws IEM Atlanta, Atlanta Wider Reach

PGL Astana 2026, held in Kazakhstan, recorded higher peak viewers and greater total watch time than IEM Atlanta 2026, held in the United States. Astana led across every major indicator measured during the events.

Across peak viewers and total watch time, Astana exceeded Atlanta by about 85 to 88 percent. Astana averaged roughly 34 percent more concurrent viewers. Astana’s prize pool was about 5.3 times larger than Atlanta’s.

Astana’s audience built toward the final, which produced the event’s highest viewing figures. Atlanta reached its peak on opening day rather than in late-stage matches.

Atlanta’s field included Team Vitality, NAVI and Oleksandr s1mple Kostyliev. NAVI and Team Vitality met in a quarterfinal. Atlanta’s quarterfinal between paiN Gaming and GamerLegion spent an extended period below 80,000 live viewers.

Both tournaments relied heavily on co-streaming and had a similar number of channels covering the events. Many co-streamers moved between broadcasts; Astana received somewhat higher co-streamer priority in the final two days when its remaining matchups were on paper stronger.

When Astana playoff matches overlapped Atlanta’s schedule, Atlanta’s live audience fell during those periods.

Audience composition differed between the events. The three core Counter-Strike segments-Russian-speaking, Brazilian Portuguese and English-language viewers-accounted for about 69 percent of Atlanta’s total viewership and more than 83 percent of Astana’s. Atlanta was available in two additional languages and on two more platforms than Astana, spreading its reach across smaller regional audiences.

The two events ran concurrently on several days in 2026 and drew from a shared global audience. The figures above summarize measured viewership, platform availability and channel coverage for each tournament.
