The Overwatch World Cup 2026 qualifying rounds take place May 29–June 7 across Asia, the Americas and EMEA, narrowing the field ahead of live group play at BlizzCon Anaheim on Aug. 21–23 and playoffs on Sept. 12–13 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
Conference Cups in each region advanced 11 wildcard teams into regional Online Qualifiers, where invited national teams joined them. In Asia, the Philippines, Pakistan and India advanced from the Conference Cup to meet Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand in Online Qualifiers held May 29–31. The draw placed South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Pakistan in one group and Australia, Thailand, India and the Philippines in the other.
In the Americas, Chile, Puerto Rico and Argentina moved on from Conference Cups to join Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico and the United States for Online Qualifiers on May 30–31. Canada, Colombia, Brazil and Puerto Rico were drawn into one bracket, while the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Chile comprised the other.
EMEA’s Conference Cups advanced Germany, Poland, Ireland, Austria and Portugal to join established national sides in Online Qualifiers on June 6–7. Those qualifiers were split into three groups: Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria; Great Britain, Norway, Portugal and Germany; and Spain, France, Ireland and Poland.
The regional Online Qualifiers will determine which teams advance to the World Cup’s live stages. After the three qualifier events, 16 nations will contest the BlizzCon Anaheim group stage and knockout rounds. The 2023 finalists Saudi Arabia and China hold automatic places; they will be joined by six EMEA teams and four teams each from the Americas and Asia to complete the 16-team field.
The BlizzCon phase is in two parts. Group play runs Aug. 21–23 in a round-robin format with four groups of four teams; the top two teams from each group advance. The playoffs are a single-elimination bracket held Sept. 12–13 at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
Across the full 2026 World Cup program, 52 national teams compete in qualifying. Organizers issued 19 invitations: the top 16 finishers from the 2023 World Cup plus three top-performing EMEA teams. The remaining 11 tournament slots are filled by wildcard teams that advanced through the Conference Cup system, with three slots allocated to the Americas, three to Asia and five to EMEA.
Historically, South Korea won three early editions from 2016–18, the United States won in 2019 and Saudi Arabia was the 2023 champion. The series has recorded high viewership in past editions, with the 2017 event peaking at 321,960 viewers; the 2023 World Cup exceeded 300,000 peak viewers and recorded 5.53 hours watched.
BlizzCon Anaheim will host the live stages alongside community events, merchandise and developer showcases. The upcoming Online Qualifiers determine which national teams will compete on the BlizzCon stage for the 2026 title.
