Nexo signed an agreement in Buenos Aires to become the Official Regional Digital Asset Partner of Argentina’s national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The partnership covers the World Cup cycle and links the company’s platform activity with fan engagement tied to Argentina’s matches in North America in 2026.
The agreement was formalized at a gala in Buenos Aires where executives from Nexo and the Argentine Football Association attended. The collaboration will run through the tournament and include a series of fan-focused activations coordinated with AFA.
Nexo plans a global ticket giveaway open to new and existing clients for Argentina’s World Cup matches. The firm will distribute signed squad shirts and publish co-created player content featuring Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martínez, Julián Álvarez and Nico Paz from May through the end of the tournament. The campaign includes match-day experiences, squad merchandise and tiered rewards that connect platform activity to campaign benefits.
Federico Ogue, CEO at Buenbit by Nexo, described the partnership as an alignment of values and noted Argentina’s national team represents high sporting excellence built on talent, conviction and an unrelenting will to win. Leandro Petersen, AFA chief commercial and marketing officer, described the deal as consistent with the association’s international growth strategy and highlighted its global reach.
Nexo’s entry into Argentina follows its acquisition of Buenos Aires-based platform Buenbit and the creation of a local team the company says will serve as a regional hub for South American operations. Company executives described the partnership as part of efforts to expand Nexo’s ecosystem and create additional ways to connect users with players and fans.
The agreement expands Nexo’s sports sponsorship portfolio. The firm is the Official Crypto Partner of the Australian Open and Summer of Tennis, the Official Digital Wealth Platform of the DP World Tour and an official partner of the Audi Revolut Formula 1 Team. Nexo relaunched operations in the United States under a regulated framework in February 2026, marking its first operational return to that market.
AFA officials have pursued commercial agreements with technology and innovation companies in recent years to broaden the association’s international footprint. The Nexo partnership brings a digital asset provider into Argentina’s commercial program as the team prepares to defend its World Cup title.
