MSI 2026 final peaks at 2.2M, below T1 vs G2 high
Hanwha Life Esports beat Bilibili Gaming 3-2 to win MSI 2026; the final peaked at 2.2 million viewers, under the 2.32 million peak for T1 vs G2.
Hanwha Life Esports defeated Bilibili Gaming 3-2 on July 12 in Daejeon to win the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational. It was Hanwha Life’s first MSI title in its debut appearance, and the victory kept the trophy in South Korea for a third consecutive year after Gen.G won in 2024 and 2025.
The grand final reached a peak audience of 2.2 million viewers, excluding Chinese livestreaming platforms. That was below the 2.32 million peak recorded during T1’s earlier match against G2 Esports, making MSI 2026 the first edition since 2023 in which the final was not the tournament’s most-watched match.
Tournament-wide figures showed declines from the 2025 edition. Total Hours Watched fell by more than 17% year over year. Peak Viewers dropped by over 32%. Average Viewers declined by 7.8%. The reported peak numbers do not include viewers on Chinese livestreaming platforms.
Organizers cited two main factors for the lower headline figures: the tournament’s broadcast schedule ran roughly eight hours shorter than in 2025, and T1’s relatively early elimination removed a major viewership driver.
MSI 2026 took place from June 28 to July 12 at Daejeon Convention Center II, with 11 teams competing for a $2 million prize pool.
The next international League of Legends event is the Esports World Cup, scheduled for July 15-19, featuring 16 teams and a separate $2 million prize pool.
