MPL Malaysia S17 Tops 25M Watch Hours; Red Giants Sweep
MPL Malaysia Season 17 recorded over 25 million watch hours as Selangor Red Giants defeated Team Vamos 4-0 in the Grand Final, peaking at 740,146 concurrent viewers.
MPL Malaysia Season 17 logged more than 25 million total watch hours, with the Grand Final reaching a peak concurrent audience of 740,146 as Selangor Red Giants beat Team Vamos 4-0 to win the title.
The final took place in Malaysia as part of the regional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang league. Selangor Red Giants claimed their fifth consecutive MPL Malaysia championship. Team Vamos finished second for the second time, matching its best domestic result from Season 14. Invictus Gaming placed third.
Only the top two teams, Selangor Red Giants and Team Vamos, qualified for the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026, scheduled at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from July 22 to August 1. The Wildcard stage will run from July 1 to July 4, with the Wildcard winner advancing to the main event.
Organizers introduced a franchise format for Season 17. The new structure increased the number of Regular Season matches even though two teams were removed from the league. A new Malaysian regional side, RRQ Tora, entered the competition and drew large early-season audiences. RRQ Tora’s early exit from the Playoffs reduced the potential for higher peak viewership later in the split.
Tournament viewership data showed the split surpassed 20 million hours watched for the first time in MPL Malaysia history and totaled more than 25 million hours, nearly double the previous record. Average viewership for the season rose about 57% compared with Season 16.
Platform-level figures rose sharply. Watch time on TikTok and YouTube nearly doubled from the previous split, and average viewership on those platforms increased by about 50%.
The Grand Final was the only match to exceed 700,000 peak viewers. Selangor Red Giants appeared in four of the five most-watched series at the event, including all of its Playoffs matches. Two matches featuring RRQ Tora also ranked among the five most popular games of the season.
Detailed match and team-level statistics are available through the event’s viewership database, which tracks hours watched, average viewership and peak concurrent viewers.
