MPL Indonesia tops April viewership; IEM Rio, LCK follow

MPL Indonesia Season 17 peaked at over 2 million concurrent viewers in April; IEM Rio drew about 1.1 million, and the LCK reached 964,300.

MPL Indonesia Season 17 recorded the highest single-match audience in April 2026, with a peak of more than 2 million concurrent viewers during the final between Bigetron by Vitality and RRQ Hoshi. Counter-Strike’s IEM Rio 2026 drew an estimated 1.1 million at its grand final. The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) reached 964,300 during a marquee match between T1 and Dplus Kia.

In the MPL Indonesia final, Bigetron by Vitality recovered after dropping the opening map to win the series 2-1 over RRQ Hoshi. The match produced the month’s largest single-match audience. RRQ Hoshi extended a losing streak to eight matches and sat at the bottom of the standings at the time of the final.

IEM Rio 2026 peaked at roughly 1.1 million concurrent viewers for the grand final, where Team Vitality defeated Team Spirit 3-0. With the tournament win, Team Vitality claimed Intel Grand Slam VI and became the first organization to win two consecutive Grand Slams. Each Grand Slam title carries a $1 million bonus.

The LCK’s April peak of 964,300 occurred during the T1 versus Dplus Kia series. Dplus Kia won the matchup 2-1. Jeon “Siwoo” Si-woo was named the match MVP. The English-language broadcast of the same match reached a peak of about 189,000 viewers.

Other events in the month included MPL Malaysia Season 17, which peaked at 633,500 concurrent viewers. The most-watched match there saw Selangor Red Giants defeat RRQ Tora 2-0. The Arena of Glory Spring 2026 reached a peak of 527,500 during a semifinal in which Team Flash beat Saigon Phantom 4-1; Saigon Phantom remained in the lower bracket after that match.

English-language viewership figures showed distinct highlights. The English broadcast of the IEM Rio grand final peaked at more than 359,000 viewers, about one-third of the event’s total peak. Streamer Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart hosted a Valorant showmatch that peaked at over 301,000 viewers and later won PogChamps by sweeping Mark “ohnePixel” Zimmermann 2-0 in the final. A GeoGuessr tournament held as part of a live rivals series and hosted by Joe Bartolozzi reached a peak of 272,600 viewers.

Platform trends in April showed one major streaming platform holding strong audiences for traditional PC titles such as Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Overwatch and League of Legends, while a leading video platform drew larger audiences for mobile-focused leagues such as the MPL. The video platform also increased its reach for PC esports content, and League of Legends viewership on that platform rose following a streaming provider’s withdrawal from the South Korean market over operational costs.

Audience tracking tools expanded their historical data in April. An interactive map now presents major esports events and audience milestones in chronological order using peak concurrent viewership as the primary reference.
