Sources say Mexico will include Valorant player Montserrat ‘mmonch’ Gutierrez on its national roster for the Esports Nations Cup, making her the first reported woman named to compete at the inaugural ENC.
Gutierrez began competing in Valorant in 2021. She played a full VCT Game Changers season in 2022 with Argentinian team FiRePOWER, taking on multiple roles. From 2022 through 2024 she won every VCT Game Changers event in the Latin America North circuit; her squads repeatedly lost to KRÜ Blaze in the LATAM finals.
Gutierrez joined KRÜ Blaze in 2025 and was part of the roster that finished in the top four at the Valorant Game Changers Championship 2025. She became the first Mexican woman to attend that world championship. KRÜ overhauled its roster ahead of the 2026 season and Gutierrez was moved to the bench. Sources now link her to Mexico’s national team roster for the ENC.
The Esports Nations Cup is scheduled for November 2026 as a biennial, multi-title tournament organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation. The festival will award more than $17.5 million across 16 games. The host country for the inaugural event has not been announced. Qualifiers begin at the end of May across several titles and regions, run through mid-August, and the Americas qualifying window opens June 26.
Women competing alongside men at high-level events have drawn large audiences. One player’s debut at a regional Valorant event recorded more than 334,000 peak viewers. A female Counter-Strike squad’s match against a top men’s team approached 500,000 concurrent viewers and ranked among that event’s most-watched matches.
Mexico’s roster announcement arrives as national teams finalize lineups for ENC qualifiers. Teams must complete registration and prepare for regional competition ahead of the November festival.
