IEM Cologne TikTok Live Sets Counter-Strike Record

IEM Cologne Major 2026 hit more than 76,000 peak viewers on TikTok LIVE after ESL FACEIT Group launched a vertical mobile broadcast, surpassing PGL Astana 2026’s 42,867.

Estimates show the IEM Cologne Major 2026 reached more than 76,000 peak viewers on TikTok LIVE after ESL FACEIT Group launched a dedicated vertical mobile broadcast for the platform. The previous TikTok LIVE peak for Counter-Strike was 42,867 during PGL Astana 2026.

The tournament replaced a direct simulcast of the desktop feed with a vertical feed built for phone screens and the platform’s recommendation-driven distribution. Viewership estimates list IEM Cologne at 76,000+ peak viewers, followed by PGL Astana at 42,867, Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 at 20,505, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 at 17,792 and CS Asia Championships 2026 at 17,007.

Organizers arranged sponsorship and on-screen elements into a vertical layout to match native mobile viewing rather than forcing a 16:9 feed into a phone frame. The vertical product included game video, player cameras, scores, economy data and sponsor placements organized for a narrow screen.

The vertical layout gives the primary game feed a smaller portion of the screen than a widescreen broadcast. For a tactical first-person shooter that relies on crosshair placement and quick reactions, the reduced gameplay window means less on-screen area dedicated to live action while other elements remain visible.

TikTok LIVE surfaces live coverage through recommendation feeds that can reach users who are not actively following tournament channels. That differs from platforms where viewers more often select specific channels; operators can distribute the same feed everywhere or create platform-specific broadcasts that adapt graphics, pacing and commercial formats.

Commercial measurement differs with vertical formats. Brand visibility on a mobile vertical stream is not automatically equivalent to the same exposure on a widescreen broadcast. A Media Value Calculator is used to estimate the commercial value of on-screen exposure across different layouts and platforms.

Four of the five highest Counter-Strike peaks on TikTok LIVE occurred in 2026. PGL used TikTok LIVE regularly before IEM Cologne, and Perfect World drew notable numbers during the 2024 Shanghai Major.
