IEM Cologne Major 2026: schedule, teams, prize and streams

IEM Cologne Major 2026 runs June 2–21 in Germany with 32 teams, three Swiss stages into single-elimination playoffs, a $1.25M prize pool and live streams on ESL Twitch, YouTube and Kick.

The IEM Cologne Major 2026 takes place June 2–21 in Germany with 32 teams competing across three Swiss-system stages leading to an eight-team single-elimination playoff. Matches will be streamed on ESL’s channels on Twitch, YouTube and Kick. The event concludes with a best-of-five grand final.

Stage 1 runs June 2–5 as a 16-team Swiss stage. Elimination and advancement matches are best-of-three; other matches are best-of-one. The top eight teams advance to Stage 2 and the bottom eight are eliminated. Stage 2 runs June 6–9 under the same format and rules for match length. Stage 3 runs June 11–15 as a 16-team Swiss stage with all matches best-of-three; the top eight teams advance to the playoffs. Playoffs take place June 18–21 in a single-elimination bracket with all matches best-of-three except the best-of-five final. There will be no third-place match.

Team entry and seeding used the April Valve Regional Standings. Higher-ranked teams begin at later stages; several top teams received direct entry into Stage 3. Stage 1 includes GamerLegion, BIG, MIBR, SINNERS, NRG and Team Liquid among others. Stage 2 lists G2, Astralis and Team Spirit alongside teams advancing from Stage 1. Stage 3 features Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, Team Falcons, The MongolZ, FURIA and MOUZ, with the remaining slots to be filled by Stage 2 qualifiers.

The prize pool totals $1.25 million. The champion will receive $500,000 and the runner-up $250,000. Semifinalists will get $80,000 each and quarterfinalists $45,000 each. Teams finishing 9th–16th will receive $15,000, 17th–24th $10,000 and 25th–32nd $5,000. Every participating team is guaranteed a payout.

Valve replaced the capsule-opening system with a token model that allows buyers to purchase individual stickers. Sticker prices will rise with sales volume. Of the half of sticker revenue previously allocated to organizations, event organizers will retain five percentage points and the remaining 45 percentage points will be distributed to teams based on the Valve Regional Standings; the top-ranked team receives about 2.85 percentage points and the lowest-ranked teams about 0.72 percentage points. After the Major, future sticker revenue will be redistributed according to final Major placements rather than initial regional standings.

Team Vitality won five international events in the first half of 2026 and has earned more than $1 million in prize money so far this year. Natus Vincere reached four international finals in 2026 and won ESL Pro League Season 23 and IEM Atlanta 2026. Team Spirit and Team Falcons have also reached multiple grand finals in 2026.

Cologne will host its fourth Valve Major. Recent Counter-Strike Majors have seen peak concurrent viewership typically between 1.5 million and 2 million. Organizers expect a peak around 1.8 million, with the possibility of exceeding 2 million depending on playoff matchups.
