GamerLegion to face NRG as IEM Cologne Major Swiss stage opens

GamerLegion will play NRG in the opening Best-of-1 match of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Swiss Stage, which runs June 2–5 and advances eight teams after five rounds.

GamerLegion meets NRG in the first match of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Swiss Stage in Cologne on June 2. First-round fixtures are scheduled as Best-of-1 maps. The Swiss Stage runs through June 5 and will send eight teams on to Stage 2 after five rounds of play.

The Swiss format allows teams to play up to five rounds, with the eight best teams by match results advancing and the rest eliminated. Standard first-round pairings are single-map matches. Any series that decides elimination or advancement shifts to Best-of-3. Playoff rounds through the semifinals will be Best-of-3, with a Best-of-5 grand final set for June 21 at LANXESS Arena.

First-round matchups for Stage 1 pair a mix of established sides and international opponents, including GamerLegion vs NRG, B8 Esports vs TYLOO, HEROIC vs Sharks Esports, BB Team vs Gaimin Gladiators, BIG vs Team Liquid, M80 vs Lynn Vision Gaming, MIBR vs THUNDERdOWNUNDER and SINNERS Esports vs FlyQuest. These opening matches begin the Swiss bracket and determine initial positioning for the following rounds.

GamerLegion and B8 Esports enter the Swiss Stage as the highest-ranked teams in the field. GamerLegion reached the grand final at IEM Atlanta 2026 ahead of Cologne, a recent result that team officials have highlighted when discussing form entering the Major.

The tournament features 32 teams that qualified via the Valve Regional Standings from April. The overall event structure consists of three consecutive Swiss Stages followed by a single-elimination playoff bracket. All playoff series before the grand final will be Best-of-3.

Fans can submit Pick’Em selections, place bets where legal, and follow live results and viewership updates through the event’s official coverage channels. The opening day on June 2 will offer an early indication of which teams convert pre-tournament seedings into match wins in the Swiss format.
