FUT Esports beats Astralis 3-1 to win PGL Bucharest 2026
FUT Esports defeated Astralis 3-1 to win PGL Bucharest 2026, drawing more than 10 million Hours Watched and averaging about 140,000 concurrent viewers.
FUT Esports defeated Astralis 3-1 in the grand final of PGL Bucharest 2026 in Bucharest, Romania. The team earned $200,000 for first place, the largest single-tournament prize in the organization’s history, and recorded its first A-Tier title. After the event, FUT Esports rose to third place in Valve’s global rankings. The two teams had met six times in official matches in 2026, including two Astralis wins at ESL Pro League Season 23.
In the group stage, FUT Esports and Astralis advanced out of their pools. FaZe Clan was eliminated in the group phase, and BC.Game Esports did not reach the playoff bracket. In the playoffs, Astralis reached the final with wins over EYEBALLERS and 3DMAX. FUT Esports reached the final by defeating B8 Esports and The MongolZ. Several elimination series required extra rounds or the full number of maps.
The tournament recorded more than 10 million Hours Watched and averaged about 140,000 concurrent viewers. Peak concurrent viewership reached 320,700 during the semifinal between The MongolZ and FUT Esports. The grand final’s peak was roughly 20,000 viewers lower. Three of the event’s top-watched matches featured The MongolZ, which led the event in both total Hours Watched and average viewership. Matches involving The MongolZ drew tens of thousands of viewers from Mongolia and showed a sharp drop in that regional audience after the team was eliminated, a pattern linked to time-zone differences.
Compared with PGL Bucharest 2025, average viewership fell by 29.4% and peak concurrent viewership declined by 38%. The 2026 field included fewer high-profile teams than in 2025, and several teams popular in Russian- and Portuguese-speaking markets were knocked out early.
Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2026 is scheduled to begin April 13 and will include teams such as Team Vitality, Team Falcons, Natus Vincere and FURIA. FUT Esports will appear at upcoming events including the IEM Cologne Major 2026, where their performance will be tracked against other top teams.
