Benjamin Cowen built a crypto channel from his lab training
Benjamin Cowen, a former radiation-damage researcher, founded YouTube channel IntoTheCryptoverse and used academic methods while avoiding paid promotions.
Benjamin Cowen worked in a university laboratory from 2013 to 2018 studying radiation damage with molecular dynamics and transmission electron microscopy. By the time he defended his dissertation he had about 10 to 11 peer-reviewed papers listed as author or co-author.
After leaving the lab, Cowen started the YouTube channel IntoTheCryptoverse. He applied a publishing routine similar to his graduate work, producing multiple videos per week in the channel’s early months-sometimes five to nine-while focusing on data and long-range market trends rather than short-term price predictions.
Cowen described a cultural shift between academia and online crypto discussion. He has said academic interactions felt respectful and professional, while social media commentary could be personal and hostile. He described learning to accept that audience reactions would split between supporters and critics and that repeated posting reduced the emotional effect of negative comments.
He has taken a public stance against paid endorsements. “It’s hard to find people in this space whose opinions aren’t paid for. A lot of times, their opinions are actually paid for,” he told audiences, and he has avoided paid promotions on his channel.
Cowen has also discussed personal priorities. He has said, “The biggest form of wealth is family, in my opinion. I would give up every Bitcoin I’ve ever owned for my family.” He contrasts that view with an industry focus on portfolio performance.
IntoTheCryptoverse mixes technical explanation with market commentary. Cowen credits his scientific training for the channel’s approach to evidence, steady publishing and a focus on longer-term patterns. Over time the channel’s subscriber base grew into the hundreds of thousands.
