Apex Legends lifts EWC 2026 week-one peak viewers 74%

Apex Legends drew more than 440,000 peak viewers on the final map at Esports World Cup 2026, up 74% from EWC 2025 and a main driver of opening-week totals.

The opening week of Esports World Cup 2026 recorded 20.1 million Hours Watched, a 10% increase from the same stage of 2025. Dota 2 contributed just over 8 million Hours Watched. Apex Legends and Valorant accounted for the remainder of the week’s viewing figures. Wildcard-stage matches from the MLBB Mid Season Cup are included in the week-one totals.

Apex Legends reached a peak of more than 440,000 concurrent viewers on the tournament’s final map, a 74% rise versus EWC 2025. The decisive map exceeded the ALGS 2026 Championship audience by about 20,000 live viewers. The Japanese team UNLIMIT entered late in the event, finishing in the top ten only once in their first six matches and then winning three of the final four rounds. The number of unique channels carrying Apex coverage rose from roughly 200 during the ALGS 2025 Midseason Playoffs to more than 300 during the ALGS 2026 Split 1 Playoffs. UNLIMIT’s run produced a large increase in Japanese viewing; Japanese became the top language for both hours watched and peak concurrent viewers for the Apex event.

Valorant’s final peaked at 246,000 viewers when 100 Thieves defeated NRG, a 45.6% decline from EWC 2025. Popular teams that failed to reach the later stages included Paper Rex, Karmine Corp and Rex Regum Qeon. Gentle Mates and Team Heretics were eliminated in the first playoff round. Although Valorant was broadcast across more unique channels than last year, the official event channel’s final-day peak was roughly one-third of its 2025 high. Several prominent community casters attracted smaller audiences than in 2025; Oscar ‘Mixwell’ Colocho’s channel drew nearly three times fewer peak viewers, and Tarik ‘Tarik’ Celik did not co-stream Valorant at EWC 2026.

NRG led all organizations in Hours Watched after week one, driven mainly by their Valorant run and by playing an additional group-phase series compared with 100 Thieves. The EWC Club Championship leaderboard after week one shows 100 Thieves, UNLIMIT and Natus Vincere tied at 1,000 points each. Natus Vincere’s total was supported by Luis ‘DarkAngel’ Gomez winning the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves tournament.

Community casting accounted for more than 58.5% of Hours Watched in the opening week, largely due to independent Dota 2 streams. Alexey ‘Solo’ Berezin led individual channels in Hours Watched by focusing on matches featuring Team Spirit, Team Yandex and other Eastern European squads. French creator Lucas ‘Squeezie’ Hauchard registered the highest community-caster peak with more than 70,900 concurrent viewers during Gentle Mates’ Valorant quarterfinal against NRG. American streamer Jack ‘NiceWigg’ Martin covered both Apex Legends matches and the Valorant finals.

The Esports World Cup continues from July 13 to July 19 with decisive Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Dota 2 matches and the start of Free Fire and League of Legends competition. Tournament standings and live viewership statistics are available through the event’s official hub.
