Adobe launches Firefly AI Assistant; shares rise 3.79%

Adobe launched Firefly AI Assistant with an Anthropic Claude connector and plans a public beta in coming weeks; shares rose 3.79% to $244.66.
Adobe introduced Firefly AI Assistant on April 15 and announced a connector to Anthropic’s Claude. The assistant will enter public beta in coming weeks and is built to coordinate multi-step creative workflows across Firefly and Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Express and Lightroom. Shares rose 3.79% to $244.66 on the announcement, compared with a 2.31% gain for the Software & IT Services sector.
Adobe described the assistant as an agent with a conversational interface that can orchestrate work across multiple apps while allowing users to edit at the pixel level when precision is required. The assistant was released alongside a Firefly update that adds more than 30 AI models and a set of new creative tools.
The expanded model set pairs Adobe’s Firefly models with partner technologies from Runway, Google, ElevenLabs, Luma AI, Topaz Labs and Black Forest Labs. New functions include Enhance Speech and other audio enhancements, Color Adjustments, Precision Flow, AI Markup, and tighter Adobe Stock integration with access to more than 800 million licensed assets.
A separate connector will let teams move work between Anthropic’s Claude and Adobe’s creative tools so concepts developed in Claude can be executed in Firefly. Paul Smith, Anthropic’s chief commercial officer, described the integration: ‘The best creative work flows between thinking and making.’
Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s chief technology officer for creativity and productivity, noted users can still work at the pixel level when precision matters and can rely on an assistant for other parts of a project.
Adobe did not disclose financial terms of the Anthropic relationship or pricing for Firefly AI Assistant. The company said it expects the tool to increase use of AI credits, which remain its primary mechanism for charging for AI features.
Adobe reported annual revenue of $23.77 billion and net profit of $7.13 billion. The company posted a record revenue quarter in the first quarter of fiscal 2026 and reported non-GAAP earnings per share above analyst estimates. Adobe also reported a substantial increase in AI-first annualized recurring revenue. Analysts have issued multiple Buy ratings on the stock, with an average price target of $323.96.
Investors were also watching several pressure points. Adobe disclosed a critical Acrobat and Reader vulnerability on April 11. Carnegie Investment Counsel reduced its stake by 41.2% in a public filing on April 12, and BTIG issued a Neutral rating on April 13. On the same day Adobe announced the Claude connector, Anthropic experienced a 40-minute major outage and a 73-minute partial outage affecting Claude.ai, Claude Code, the Claude API and Cowork; operations were restored later that afternoon.
